Inclusive workshops nurturing creativity and self-expression

Talking is important and we know that sometimes talking simply isn’t enough. We are passionate about creating inclusive programmes that nurture innate creativity and a sense of wellbeing.

In our workshops and talks – aimed at adults and young adults – we play around with self-expression using the arts.

Creativity is a form of self-expression, being able to express yourself enhances satisfaction, joy, contentedness, ideas, knowledge and being more in touch with your true self.

You can engage with Therapy x Design’s workshops and talks in two ways, through facilitation and consultation.

Facilitation: We lead a workshop using one of our own ready-made programmes.

Consultation: We partner with you, whether an individual or a company, to create a bespoke programme to meet your group/company/business needs.

Creativity is in all of us. The arts are for all of us. Our group facilitation through process-led and craft-based workshops, offer an opportunity to experience this innate creativity in full.

What can a workshop offer?

A playful environment

Our workshops offer an opportunity to get creative with communication and explore self-expression using the arts in a playful environment.

These artistic outlets include:

  • Collage
  • Drawing
  • Mark-making
  • Mixed media (fabric and paper)
  • Textiles

Why do we approach things this way? Because playful encounters are good for our health and are most needed when we are lost, stressed and stuck – in other words when we need to look after ourselves the most.

A Therapy x Design workshop is a space where you can unlock your creativity through purposeful play and learn new accessible ways to enhance your mental health.

Find joy in imperfection

Making and mending can be acts of self care. Repairing old textiles or reconstructing cloth can empower us to find joy in imperfection and help heal ourselves one stitch at a time.

Give yourself the gift of (a stitch in) time by joining a relaxed workshop where you can explore the mindful benefits of slow stitch.

Slow down, unwind, and immerse yourself in the joy of creating something beautiful with your own hands and connecting with others.

This workshop is offered in two ways:

One to one

One to one therapy and textile sessions with our highly-experienced textile designer and psychotherapist.

Group class

Fabric manipulation and textile embellishment classes for groups of up to ten people – 90 minutes per week for eight weeks.

Purposeful Play for Grown Ups

Process-led playful mixed media classes for groups of up to ten people.

Flex your creative muscles

Life is busy for us “grown ups”. We take our responsibilities seriously. We are under increasing pressure to be “on” all the time; to have all the answers and to be perfectly productive.

As a result of all this we get stuck in the “shoulds” of our lives and we forget about the “coulds”.

So we must remember that it is also our responsibility to look after ourselves and flex our creative muscles.

Why? To increase our respondability in life by filling our creative cup and nurturing the creative process. That’s just where our Purposeful Play workshop can help.

Reconnect with yourself

When productivity pressure takes its toll, creativity is key. If you’ve run out of answers it just might be the perfect time to get creative and reconnect with yourself.

Wait, we know what you’re thinking – “I’m not creative”. It’s that very misconception that makes you perfect for this workshop. And there’s nothing to fear or feel intimidated by because creativity is just another word for play!

Give yourself permission to play and get lost in the process during this six-week Purposeful Play workshop. You’ll soon discover that play really does have a purpose when life’s pressure gets too much.

All you need to bring is yourself. We will supply creative reuse art materials/tools, so you can embrace the fun and the freedom to just get lost in the process.

Group class

Process-led playful mixed media classes for groups of up to ten people – 90 minutes per week for six weeks.
