Genuine curiosity, compassion, creativity and inclusivity lie at the centre of Aisling Folan’s professional practice. Her eclectic background in art, design, international business and social enterprise saw her hone and combine her unique skills to become a psychotherapist accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). Aisling has been working with clients in The Counselling Centre Maynooth since 2021.
Aisling holds neuroaffirmative space for adult clients (18+) and is experienced in working with:

Aisling is an integrative psychotherapist who creates an emotionally and physically safe space to develop a meaningful relationship with each client. Her hope is that by being their ethical companion and an attentive listener, she can help each client to discover self-trust and belief in their own capacity to cope and live well.

As per the IACP’s definition of counselling and psychotherapy, Aisling respects the “client’s values, personal resources and capacity for self-determination.”
Her authentic, integrative and creative approach provides holistic psychotherapy and sustainable support. Aisling’s philosophy is drawn from her wealth of professional experience and a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities – where design-thinking and person-centred, CBT and creative art therapy techniques are merged, where appropriate.
Stepping into the therapy room with Aisling offers individuals the opportunity to discover new perspectives on their emotions, behaviours and cognitions. It is a safe exploratory space to find self-understanding and to feel understood. Aisling conducts sessions both online and in person.
Aisling is also a visiting lecturer at the National College of Art & Design (NCAD).
Delivering fashion and textiles content for the Department of Design for Body & Environment (DBE), she has taught fabric manipulation skills and textile design techniques to undergraduate students.
In her role as an Adult Education Tutor for Dublin’s Liffey Area Partnership (LAP), Aisling collaborated with the organisation to create its Home Visitor Programme 2024/25.
Her facilitation of LAP’s men’s and women’s mental health HEADSUP programme, and its Women’s Space initiative, involved creatively supporting sustainable mental health and wellbeing strategies within the community.
